Multimodal Neuroprosthesis for Daily Upper limb Support

MUNDUS: Multimodal Neuroprosthesis for Daily Upper limb Support

MUNDUS concept
MUNDUS is an assistive framework for recovering interaction capability of severely motor impaired people based on arm reaching and hand function. Sensors, actuators and control solutions adapt to the level of severity or progression of the disease allowing interaction through the voluntary control by the user.

Expected MUNDUS users are people affected by:
  • neurodegenerative disease such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Friedreich Ataxia (FRDA), Multiple Sclerosis (MS);
  • high level Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
Most of these pathologies are characterized by a progressive course of the impairment with a faster or slower continuous loss of motor capabilities.
It is very important to cope day by day with the current motor conditions offering solutions able to adapt to the modifying status of the person.

MUNDUS offers an adaptable and modular solution able to follow its user in the progression of the disease, reducing training time and allowing immediate adjustment to the new situation.
